I don't suppose some bright person at MS got the idea that they
could offer better tech support with information on hand about their
user's systems, programs and what-not? Hmmmmm?
MS may rightly be accused of being inept or misguided, but to say
that there is a den of thieves in Seattle is a bit much. They are most
probably just plain stupid, as most overly large corporations are wont
to be, and have traded concepts like common sense for optimization theory.
BTW, if you spend all your energy getting riled about mythical
maliciousness in big business, you'll miss all the really dastdardly
conspiracies. The ones in big government, for example. (Hi Janet!
Reading this OK?)
Oh... and it IS off topic, dammit.
